On Monday July 13th, 2026, a ribbon cutting was held by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce for The Bottle Blonde, located at 811 Main Street, Chipley, Florida. In the last year, owners, Michael Gainer and Tommy Slater, have had great relationships with the community, and put together an excellent Team.

On Saturday, July 4, the City of Vernon celebrated our nation’s 250th Independence Day with a fun-filled community event. The celebration kicked off with a parade at 5:00 p.m., followed by a festival at the Sportsplex featuring local vendors, activities for the kids, and live music. Gospel musician Leah Pettis performed at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday June 26th, 2026, Jim Trawick Park was the site of the 70th annual Panhandle Watermelon Festival, a free event thanks to the many local sponsors making it possible for the great entertainment, Tracy Byrd, Dailey & Vincent, and Ashley Monroe.
Florida Panhandle Technical College was the site of the Panhandle Watermelon Festival Hot Trot, start and finish.
On Friday, June 19th, 2026, Class reunion for classes of 1938-1968 gathered for a fish fry, to reminisce, and celebrate the Legacy of T.J. Roulhac, the location was Gilmore Park.
On Monday, June 22nd, 2026, City of Chipley, the Chamber of Washington County and DHM Melvin Engineering celebrated a ribbon cutting for The First National Bank (Mongoven Building) which has been made into a public gathering space.
Saturday’s Florida 4-H Avian Quiz Bowl was a first for Washington County 4-Hers. The quiz competition tested their knowledge on topics including rearing and feeding poultry and water fowl, breed characteristics and types, genetics, reproduction, biosecurity, health matters, and poultry pioneers.
