September 11, 2026, was a special night in Vernon!
Before kickoff, the Jackets’ football field was officially renamed Jerry Tyre Stadium in honor of the great Mr. Jerry Tyre. Mr. Tyre was there for the dedication, along with members of the school board, family, friends, and members of the community. It was a great ceremony and a well-deserved honor for someone who has meant so much to Vernon.
After the ceremony, the Vernon Yellow Jackets took the field against the Cottondale Hornets. The final score was 0–56, but we’ll keep showing up and supporting our Jackets through every win and every loss.
Now it’s time to look ahead because NEXT WEEK IS HOMECOMING WEEK!
The Jackets will take on the FAMU DRS Rattlers, and we’re ready for another Friday night under the lights at Jerry Tyre Stadium!
