Vernon, Florida celebrated Homecoming Week from Monday, September 29th through Friday, October 3rd. Each school had different dress-up days throughout the week, and everyone really got into the spirit. On Friday, I started the day at the high school pep rally, which included the rec league, middle school, and high school cheerleaders and football players, along with the Pride of Vernon Marching Band. All of the cheerleaders performed their routines, and they did an awesome job. The Homecoming Court was also introduced, bringing lots of excitement and school pride to the event.
Shortly after the pep rally, I went to the Homecoming Parade, where the whole community came out to celebrate. There was plenty of candy thrown, lots of smiles, and classmates reuniting. Everyone had a great time together. The Vernon homecoming parade is always a fun event and it never disappoints.
That night, the Vernon Yellow Jackets faced off against the Graceville Tigers. It was a tough game for the Jackets, with a final score of 15–42, but they played hard, showed spirit, and never gave up. Once a Yellow Jacket, always a Yellow Jacket—let’s go Jackets!
