John Paul Cook, Jr., age 61 of Vernon, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2021 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Florida.
John was born on May 22, 1960 in Defuniak Springs, Florida to John Paul Cook, Sr. and Patricia Ann Parish. A lifelong resident of the panhandle, John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and he also worked in law enforcement. He enjoyed being outdoors; he was a hunter, fisherman, and a beekeeper. John was known for his selflessness; he would do anything for his family and others, he truly had a servant’s heart. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Patricia Parish.
He is survived by his father: John Paul Cook, Sr. (Sandra) of Vernon, FL; adoring wife of 42 years: Gail Cook of Vernon, FL; son: John Paul Cook III (Carolina) of St. Johns, FL; daughter: Christy Barnes (Tim) of Vernon, FL; brothers: Bryan Cook (Ami) of Baton Rouge, LA, Michael Cook (JoeAnn) of Panama City, FL; grandchildren: Marissa Barnes, Harley Peel, Tiffany Barnes, Timothy Barnes, Gianni Simonpietri, Romina Simonpietri, David Cook, and Lucas Cook.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10AM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Cook Family Cemetery in Vernon, Florida with Rev. Ronnie Gene Hagan officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
