Historic First National Bank Project Ribbon Cutting

Historic First National Bank Project Ribbon Cutting Scheduled for June 18th in Downtown Chipley

Chipley, Florida  The Washington County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Chipley and DHM Melvin Engineering, invites community members, business leaders, elected officials, and regional stakeholders to attend a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the Historic First National Bank Project (formerly known as the Mongoven Building).

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at 687 5th St, Chipley, Florida. The Historic First National Bank Project represents a significant investment in the preservation and revitalization of one of Downtown Chipley’s most recognizable historic landmarks. The completed improvements showcase the community’s commitment to honoring its heritage while creating attractive public spaces that contribute to economic development, tourism, and quality of life.

Originally serving as the First National Bank, the historic structure has long been an important part of Chipley’s architectural and commercial history. The restoration and enhancement of the site preserve this legacy while creating a welcoming public space for residents and visitors to enjoy for generations to come. The project stands as a testament to the power of partnership between local government, community organizations, engineers, contractors, and citizens who share a vision for preserving Chipley’s historic character while fostering future growth.

“This ribbon cutting marks more than the completion of a construction project—it celebrates the preservation of an important piece of our community’s history and the continued momentum of downtown revitalization efforts,” said Chamber officials.

Residents of Washington County and neighboring communities throughout Northwest Florida are encouraged to attend and join local leaders in commemorating this milestone achievement.
