Meet Crystal Abel – Co-Owner of Wild Roots Apothecary and Seed Shop

Hello and welcome! I’m Crystal Abel, proud co-owner of Wild Roots Apothecary and Seed Shop, a community centered haven for holistic wellness and herbal traditions. Alongside my partner, Michael Nowka, we’ve cultivated a space that embraces all cultures and welcomes like-minded souls who seek healing, connection, and a return to nature.

I was raised in a Christian family, where I learned the values of faith, compassion, and service principles that continue to guide me both personally and professionally. As a mother of three amazing children, nurturing comes naturally to me. It’s a part of who I am—whether I’m tending to my family, our business, or our growing community.

Professionally, I hold a master’s degree in forensic accounting and have been working in the field since 2006, with my own firm operating since 2019. While accounting is my career, my passion lies in natural living. I’m a certified herbalist and devoted homesteader, living close to the land since 2015.

My connection to the earth runs deep, influenced by my Native American heritage and my Christian upbringing. In nature, I feel aligned with my God given purpose to heal, teach, and uplift others through the wisdom of plants and traditional medicine.

Hi there! I’m Michael Nowka, co-owner of Wild Roots Apothecary and Seed Shop. With a background in construction, I’ve spent years contributing to the building and restoration of both new and historic community spaces. That same craftsmanship and care went into creating our shop, a place designed to feel like home the moment you walk through the door.

Raised in a military family in the Northwest Florida area, I’ve always valued resilience, tradition, and a strong sense of community. I’m an animal lover at heart, with a deep appreciation for the stories that vintage pieces and old-world treasures carry with them. You’ll find many of these unique antiques displayed throughout the apothecary collected from our travels near and far, adding to the warmth and character of our space.
