The Vernon Heritage Festival took place this past weekend, kicking off on Friday, April 5th, at Shady Grove Park. The festivities began with free snacks, live music, bounce houses, a display of the historic Shady Grove Elementary School, and a firework show. On Saturday, April 6th, the celebration continued with the Washington County Bicentennial Parade, which began at 10:00 AM. The second day of the festival featured living history demonstrations, a variety of food vendors, live performances, archaeological displays, fascinating museum exhibits and art displays. Sponsored by First Federal Bank and Florida Power & Light, the festival was a fun and memorable tribute to 200 years of rich and proud heritage.
