Officers with the Chipley Police Department (CPD) responded to the Walmart parking lot on March 23, 2020, in reference to two vehicle burglaries. Officers collected information pertaining to the burglaries and began actively working the case.
Officers were able to obtain photographs of the suspect involved in the burglaries and were later able to identify the suspect as Charles Leander Ford, 28, of Cottondale. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued for two counts of Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance.
On May 11, officers with the CPD on routine patrol observed Ford in his vehicle at a local convenience store parking lot. Officers made contact with Ford and placed him under arrest for the outstanding Burglary warrants.
While conducting the arrest of Ford, officers observed a baggy of marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle. A search of vehicle was conducted during the course of the investigation.
A passenger of the vehicle, identified as D’shua Williams, 21, of Chipley, exited the store and approached the vehicle.
The search of the vehicle resulted in drug related charges for both Williams and Ford. Both occupants were arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.
