Arrest from trooper involved shooting

Pensacola, FL – After an initial criminal investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence has arrested Sonya M. Womble, age 43 of Pensacola.

She was arrested for the following charges: one count of a felony – aggravated assault on an officer, one count of a felony – possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon, one count of a felony – criminal mischief with property damage, one count of a felony – armed trespassing of a conveyance or structure, and one count of a misdemeanor – use of a firearm while under the influence.

Thursday afternoon, Womble was booked into the Escambia County Jail by investigators for the above listed charges, due to her role in the trooper involved shooting on March 23, 2021, in the area of Ten Mile Road and Chemstrand Road.

“We are thankful for the assistance at the scene from Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Escambia County EMS,” stated a spokesperson for FHP. “We are also grateful that no one was injured during the incident.”
