Wildflower alert

Yellow Passionflower

by Eleanor Dietrich

If you are familiar with the larger Purple Passionflower, you will notice the similarities in the in unusual structure of these two flowers but the Yellow Passionflower (Passiflora lutea) is much smaller. Their delicate vines come up all over in the woods behind my house and they are larval host plants for the Zebra Longwing and the Gulf Fritillary butterflies.
