Vernon Middle School Principal Kim Register was recognized by the Washington County School Board when they met Monday night for winning the Florida Tax Watch Principal Leadership Award.

Consent items that were approved included:

  • payment of monthly bills; financial report and budget amendments
  • minutes
  • substitutes/volunteers
  • contract with College Board
  • STEM Collegiate High School Agreement
  • disposal of property
  • out of state travel for CHS band
  • addendum between The Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission and FPTC
  • contract with LaWayne McDonald, VMS basketball coach
  • out of state travel for VMS personnel
  • out of state travel for VMS band director and student
  • out of state travel for VMS 8th grade class
  • out of state travel for Commercial Vehicle Driving Program
  • purchase of district vehicles

The following personnel items were approved:

  • District — resignation of Cheleste Shular; resignation of Alisa Hurst; resignation of Joy Taylor; AVID tutors; employment of Dewayne Geoghagan; pay adjustment for Sam Cox
  • Chipley High School — employment of Chelsea Carter; recommendation of Blake Wilson as Athletic Director, Head Football Coach
  • Florida Panhandle Technical College — resignation of Wendy Williams; employment of Wendy Williams
  • Kate Smith Elementary — pay level change for Gwen Corbin
  • Maintenance — employment of Charlie McArthur
  • Roulhac Middle School — resignation of Mildred Kindig
  • Transportation — OPS pay for teachers with CDL license
  • Vernon High School — recommendation of Willie Spears as Athletic Director, Head Football Coach

An Employee Recognition will be held at Vernon High School on Thursday, January 19, with a reception beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by the program.

The District Spelling Bee will be held on December 18 at 10 a.m. in the RMS/CHS auditorium.
