Chipley FFA has big day at  District 1 Sub-district 2 competition

Chipley High School’s FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team won 1st place Parliamentary Procedure. The National FFA Parliamentary Procedure CDE tests students’ ability to effectively communicate ideas during a meeting. Components included a general knowledge exam of parliamentary law, a ten-minute demonstration of parliamentary procedure, oral questions, written minutes of the demonstration as well as a team problem solving activity.Team  members Elizabeth Fleener, Brooklyn Hayes, Desiree Beman, Savannah Petroff, Mary Beth Obert and Shelby Kriser.

Wyatt Patterson won 1st place in Extemporaneous Speaking. The National FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking CDE is designed to recognize outstanding FFA members for their ability to prepare and present a factual speech on a specific agricultural issue in a well thought out and logical manner. Members select one topic from a choice of categories, have thirty minutes to prepare a four to ten minute speech, and respond to five minutes of questions following delivery.Wyatt Patterson won 1st place.

Josh Bruner was recognized as the 1st place Safe Tractor Operations winner.  Contestants had to complete a written exam over tractor safety and operations, answer oral questions and drive a tractor and trailer through an obstacle course.

Elizabeth Fleener was recognized as the 1st place contestant in Prepared Public Speaking.   The prepared public speaking CDE is designed to recognize outstanding FFA members for their ability to prepare and present a factual speech on a specific agricultural issue in a well thought out and logical manner in a competitive setting. Members prepare and deliver a six-to eight-minute speech from memory and respond to five minutes of questions. The event is just one way FFA members can develop their ability to communicate in a powerful, organized and professional manner.
