Lady Indians to host Women’s Classic

MARIANNA—The Lady Indians (9-0) host Eastern Florida State College, Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m., in the Johnson Center. Sneads State and Central Georgia play at 5 p.m.

Chipola hosts Central Georgia Tech, Saturday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. Sneads State and Eastern Florida meet at 1 p.m.

Chipola is second in the FCSAA State Poll and the number 3 team in the NJCAA National Poll.

The Lady Indians picked up a pair of wins in the Florida Shootout on Dec. 2-3. Chipola beat Florida Southwestern, 84-53, on Dec. 2. Barbara Johnson led Chipola with 18. Raven Baker-Northcross had 14. Sydnee McDonald scored 11 points with 12 rebounds. Tiaera Phillips had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Chipola beat Central Florida, 75-43, on Dec. 3. Johnson led with 18 points. McDonald had 12 points. Danielle Garven had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Obouh Feque had 14 points.

Chipola beat Miami Dade, 85-77, on Nov. 23. McDonald led with 24 points. The Lady Indians trounced ASA Miami, 91-42, Nov. 22. Danielle Garvin led Chipola with 23 points.

The Chipola Indians (10-1) are the fifth-ranked team in the latest FCSAA State Poll and the number 23 team in the NJCAA National Poll. Chipola scored a 110-85 win over Miami-Dade on Dec. 2. Jahshire Hardnett led with 23 points. Cedric Wright had 18 points. Carter Skaggs had 18. Eric Cobb had 14.

Chipola beat Florida Southwestern, 92-84, on Dec. 3. Jamall Gregory led with 23 points. Deyshawn Martin had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Cobb had 16 points. Wright added 13.

Chipola hosts the Beef O’Brady’s Classic, Dec. 16, 17, and 18. The Lady Indians play one game against Harford, Friday, Dec. 16, at 5 p.m. Chipola’s men play Harford at 7 p.m., Dec. 16. The Indians also play Monroe, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. and Jefferson College, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m.

In celebration of the season, admission to the Dec. 16-18 games is free with an unwrapped toy. Fans also will be treated to holiday performances on Friday, Dec. 16, by ‘A Time to Dance’ twirlers and majorettes from Marianna Middle School and Marianna High School.
