Gainer sworn-in as State Senator

TALLAHASSEE – Panama City businessman George Gainer officially took the oath of office as State Senator, District 2 during Tuesday’s Constitutionally-required organizational session of the Florida Legislature. Gainer was sworn-in with the other 39 members of the Florida Senate.

Gainer was joined at the state Capitol by three bus loads of friends, family and supporters from throughout Northwest Florida. Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, they joined Senator Gainer for a breakfast and prayer.

“I am humbled to represent my home, Northwest Florida in the State Senate. I am especially thankful that so many people came to Tallahassee to share in this special day,” said Senator Gainer. “Now that the election season is over, the real work begins. I pledge to the residents of District 2 to work tirelessly on their behalf; to make wise decisions that benefit all of Florida; and to ensure that, in particular, Northwest Florida has a strong voice looking out for the welfare of our region of the state.”

Senator Gainer was elected to the Florida Senate with no opposition and until earlier this month served for the past 16 years as a Bay County Commissioner. George Gainer is a lifelong resident of Northwest Florida. He was born in Jackson County, lived as a youth in Washington and Bay counties and raised his family and started his business in Panama City. George is married to his wife Jan and has six children and 12 grandchildren.
