Chipola Black Student Union celebrates accomplishments

MARIANNA—The Chipola College Black Student Union has been very busy this Fall Semester.

BSU participated in the Sunland Fall Festival Parade on Oct. 29.  BSU, Phi Beta Lambda and the TRiO Society sponsored the Fall Carnival which raised funds and awareness for the Anchorage Children’s Home in Marianna.

Chipola BSU President, Jackie Dudley was selected as Region 1 Director for the Florida African American Student Association (FAASA).  She will direct other FAASA students from seven state colleges and universities within the region which includes: FAMU; FSU; Gulf Coast; Northwest Florida; Pensacola; Tallahassee; and University of West Florida.

The Florida African American Student Association (FAASA) Convention was held on Nov. 10-13 in Jacksonville. The Chipola BSU was recognized as a Four-Star Program for the 2016-17 school year.  BSU members received priority seating at the Fall Leadership Convention.  Chipola BSU adviser Dr. Willie Spires and other advisors also were recognized for their leadership.
