School Board honors Saunders

Prior to the monthly meeting of the Washington County School Board Monday night, a reception was held for Wayne Saunders, District 2 member. After 12 years of outstanding and dedicated service to the Washington County School District and community, Saunders is retiring. He served on the School Board from November 16, 2004 until November 22, 2016.

During the School Board meeting that followed, schools were recognized for achieving top 10 percent of FSA scores. Recognized were Principal Steve Griffin from Vernon Elementary School, Principal Lesa Burdeshaw from Kate Smith Elementary, and Principal Kyle Newsom from Chipley High School.

The Florida Panhandle Technical College was also recognized for 40 years of accreditation.
