Pippin obit

Philip David Pippin, age 56, of Chipley, entered into his eternal life peacefully Sunday evening, November 6, 2016 at his home after a nine month battle with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer.

Philip Pippin, the son of the late Tillman O. Pippin and Madelyn C. Pippin, was born August 28, 1960 in Chipley, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tillman O. Pippin and sister, Martha Kay Andrews.

Philip is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tonya Johnson Pippin; two children, Philip Daniel Pippin of Chipley and Jordan Brooke Pippin of Panama City; mother, Madelyn C. Pippin; granddaughter, Caroline Keith of Navarre; niece, Chelsea Andrews Richard (Jeremy) and three great nephews, Luke, Logan and Keyton Richard, all of Chipley; Philip graduated from Chipley High School in 1978 and attended Chipola Junior College.

He was the President of Pippin Appraisal Services, Inc. of Chipley, a family owned Real Estate Appraisal Company, which he successfully ran since 1985.  Philip provided professional real estate appraisal services in Northwest Florida to many national, regional and local banks, governments, attorneys and individuals. Philip is known for providing credible and unbiased appraisals to meet the needs of his clients.  He also served as an expert witness for numerous regional judges.

Philip was the co-developer of the premier subdivision, Pine Bluff at Falling Waters, located in Chipley.

He loved life, cooking, family and community service.  Family and friends enjoyed the fruits of his labor in the kitchen and on the grill.  Philip had a deep sense of community and is a long time supporter of Chipley and Washington County.  He was a member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce since 1985, serving as a Board of Director from 2006 – 2013 and President from 2011-2013; served as a firefighter for the Chipley Volunteer Fire Department from 1985 – 1992 and Fire Chief in 1992; served as a past member of the Washington County Planning Commission.  Philip supported many local organizations and causes including the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Council, American Cancer Society, Kiwanis, Lions Club, The Spanish Trail Playhouse, Junior Achievement, Chipley High School, Washington County Arts Council, and Habitat for Humanity just to name a few.

A celebration of life will commence at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, 1300 South Blvd, Chipley, with Pastor Mike Orr officiating.

Family will receive friends from 12-2 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, 1300 South Blvd, Chipley, FL.

Philip will be laid to rest in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Chipley, under the directions of Obert Funeral Home of Chipley.

Flowers are being accepted or donations can be made in his honor to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church in Chipley.
