Second year Chipola men’s basketball coach Bret Campbell leads the Indians into battle with a pair of seasoned players. Forward Eric Turner averaged 11 points and nearly 6 rebounds a game season last year for Chipola. Point guard Taevon Ashmeade started in final stretch of the 2016 conference season.
Coach Campbell says, “We have more size than we had a year ago. We’ve got a couple transfers that are going to be solid for us.” University of South Carolina transfer Eric Cobb (6-9, 280) will give the Indians some size inside. Freshman Yuat Alok from New Zealand (6-10, 220) was one of the top recruits in the country. Campbell says, “We’re deeper at every position than we were a year ago. Our goal is to defend and rebound well because that’s what wins you championships. I think our team can certainly play for a Panhandle championship. We’ve got four Division I transfers that understand what it takes.”
