The campus of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville is always filled with excitement, but no day rivals the excitement felt on Preview Day, the day when prospective students and their families attended an open house to see if BCF is where they should continue their education.
Registration began in the BCF Wellness Center at 9:00 a.m. where prospective students received bags filled with information regarding campus life and degree opportunities available at BCF. During registration, prospects were able to visit exhibit booths dedicated to providing information on specific degree programs, mission opportunities, financial aid, student life activities, intramural sports, and other resources available to students such as the library, writing center, and computer lab. In addition to registration and visiting exhibits, there was also a photo booth where visitors could take photos with friends and family members as they created memories and made new friendships on Preview Day.
After registration, guests were welcomed by BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen and Director of Enrollment Management and Marketing Sandra Richards. During the exhibit meet and greet time, prospective students were able to interact with faculty and staff from each department and invited to preview academic life by visiting one of the classes. Classes were available in music, education, psychology, missions and theology, and financial aid. The meetings were designed specifically to provide detailed information relating to academic interest, or career choice, and possibilities for financial assistance.
Following the classroom visits, guests made their way to the R.G. Lee Chapel for a time of inspirational worship and a powerful message from Kinchen. The chapel service featured student led praise and worship, showcasing the orchestra, college choir, and all of the college ensembles available for students to join while attending BCF.
Immediately after chapel, BCF provided lunch for visitors in the dining facility, The Deese Center. During lunch, attendees experienced a time of food, fun, and fellowship, meeting current students while listening to the smooth sound of the BCF Jazz Band. Following the meal, visitors were given the option to tour married housing or dormitories with the BCF Resident Directors (RD’s), or take a tour of the campus with one of the BCF Admissions Counselors.
As the tours concluded, both current and prospective students filed into the Wellness Center to watch the BCF Student Intramural Volleyball Champions, the “Tropics,” take on a team made up of faculty and staff in a competitive and entertaining game of volleyball. The teams split the first two sets, with the students winning the deciding third set of the match.
Throughout the volleyball challenge, there were drawings held for six scholarships that went to Will Tourney, Jason Chesire, Griffin Nales, Hanna Fowler, Lexi Dexter, and Hannah Shaffett. In addition to the scholarships, there was a drawing for a basket filled with BCF goodies. The day concluded with a word of prayer offered by BCF Student and “Tropics” Captain Ryan Edwards.
