The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a public meeting concerning proposed improvements to State Road (S.R.) 388 from S.R. 79 to east of Burnt Mill Creek in Bay County. The meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Woodstock Church, 17495 Panama City Beach Parkway, Panama City Beach, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CDT.
The intent of this project is to widen just over six miles of S.R. 388 from two to four lanes with a twelve foot shared-use path on the south side of the project and construct drainage improvements. The project is broken into two segments. Segment 5 is just over four miles, and stretches from S.R. 79 to Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. This project features include a multi-lane roundabout at the entrance to Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, construction of a four-lane bridge over Crooked Creek with a dedicated wildlife crossing under the bridge, and an intersection improvements at S.R. 79. Segment 5 is funded for right-of-way acquisition and construction. The FDOT anticipates receiving bids for construction fall 2020. The two-mile Segment 6 of the corridor is from Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport to east of Burnt Mill Creek. This segment includes removal of the existing causeway and building a four-lane bridge over Burnt Mill Creek with a dedicated wildlife crossing under the bridge. Segment 6 is not funded for right-of-way or construction in the current FDOT Five-Year Work Program.
Maps, drawings, and other information will be on display. The meeting will be held in the open house format. Representatives from FDOT will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments.
