Chipola ranked by

MARIANNA—Chipola College was recently ranked number 32 on a list of the Best Online Colleges in Florida. The website,, listed Chipola 32nd among 112 institutions in the state.

Chipola President Dr. Jason Hurst says, “We’re very proud that our online program is ranked in the top third of all colleges and universities in Florida.  The majority of Chipola students are enrolled in face-to-face classes, but we think it’s important to offer other delivery options.”

Chipola utilizes Canvas, a Learning Management System, which provides a platform for students to interact with faculty in online and in traditional courses. While Chipola does not offer all courses in an online format, students may earn a general Associate in Arts (AA) degree completely online. Chipola also offers the RN to BSN degree with all upper level classes in an online format.  Other online programs also are being explored.

Vikki Milton, Chipola’s Director of Distance Learning, says, “To ensure that our online classes have the same high standards as traditional classes, our faculty are required to meet proficiency standards. Chipola’s listing comes two weeks after the college was ranked 10th on the list of Top Public Schools in the South by U.S. News and World Report.

Chipola is designated as a state college in the Florida College System. Established in 1947, Chipola offers the Bachelor of Science Degree, the Associate in Arts Degree, the Associate in Science Degree and Workforce Development programs.
