Chipley Garden Club’s scarecrows have been hanging around town in anticipation of CHIPLEY’S SCARECROW EXPRESS and, on Saturday, October 15th, the wait will be over! The 5th Annual Scarecrow Building Contest & Train Festival will be “pulling into the station” at Washington County Historical Society in downtown Chipley around 10AM. Admission is FREE to the family-friendly event.
The History Museum and the AMTRAX Train Museum which features train memorabilia and Creek Indian displays will be open all day. Come check out the caboose or shop at the Washington County Market featuring local crafters and vendors offering a variety of items. Visitors will also enjoy live entertainment, refreshments, photo ops, free kid crafts, and roaming in the scarecrow field.
Contest registration is from 9AM-10AM the morning of the festival and the scarecrow field opens for viewing by the public at 10AM. Categories include Adult, Youth, and Business/Clubs – 1st and 2nd places, People’s Choice, Garden Club Special, Funniest, Most Unusual, Sweeties, Scariest, Animated, and Recycling. Winners will be announced at 3:30PM and will receive cash prizes and/or ribbons or certificates.
