MARIANNA—Original works by Dr. Kitty Myers will be on display in the Chipola College Center for the Arts Gallery beginning Oct. 8. The opening will coincide with the Artist Series performance of Melinda Doolittle.
Dr. Myers worked at the college from 1981 to 2011. She began her career as a mathematics instructor and retired as Vice President of Instruction and Baccalaureate programs.
Of her love for art, Myers said, “From the time I could hold a crayon, I’ve always loved to sketch, and color and paint.”
During her 30 year career in education, she continued to learn more about the artistic process, taking lessons, reading and painting. “Since my retirement, I’ve devoted myself to my passion for art,” Myers said. She paints mostly with oils and occasionally watercolor pencils. Her work covers a wide range of subjects including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes. “I paint for my own enjoyment and I frequently accept commissions for paintings and sell other paintings to interested persons.”
The show will be open through the end of October. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon.
