Open auditions announced for “Aspirin & Elephants”

The Spanish Trail Playhouse will hold open auditions for Aspirin & Elephants on August 29 & 30. The auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. nightly at The Spanish Trail Playhouse (Historic Chipley High School) located at 680 Second Street in Chipley. Aspirin & Elephants will take the stage October 21-23 and will mark the third production of Season 9.

Aspirin & Elephants will be directed by Terrie Garrett and was written by Jerry Mayer. It is a hilarious romantic comedy with six very strong roles bursting with the kind of witty dialogue that actors love & audiences rave about. This award-winning comedy deals with an upscale 60ish mother and father who take their two married daughters and sons-in-law on a North Sea cruise to celebrate their fortieth anniversary. The cruise was Mother’s idea, who hopes to get her husband’s spirits and also his libido raised after a recent heart attack – his heart attack explains the title of the play (he jokes about his coronary, which felt like an elephant sitting on his chest. Now he has to take an aspirin every day.)

Casting will include the six main characters – mother, father, two daughters and two sons-in-law. For additional information on the roles available, please visit the Spanish Trail Playhouse website: www.spanishtrailplayhouse.com.
