The Florida Department of Environmental Protection presented the City of Chipley with a ceremonial grant check for $50,000. The funds will be used for the development of new playground, new picnic facilities, and new landscaping (sidewalks). Renovation of existing playground and existing restrooms. Additional project costs to include Admin and Engineering costs. This year, DEP is investing more than $7 million in 137 recreational development projects in local communities around the state through its Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP).
“Increasing access to outdoor recreational opportunities offers many benefits to citizens such as social gatherings, exercise and competitive sports,” said Jacob Strickland, Park Manager at Falling Waters and Ponce de Leon Springs State Park. “I am proud to present this grant money on behalf of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as we work in partnership with local communities to provide more recreational opportunities.”
