He was born April 29th, 1966 to Richard Eugene “Gene” Shores, Sr. and Hazel Harmon Shores in Washington County, FL.
Greg was known for his kindness, good manners, contagious grin, and “How’s your family?” He loved his family, friends, country music, good food, the Gaither’s and going to church. His life was a witness to anyone who met him. His love for God was evident. Even though his reading ability was limited, he would sit for hours with his Bible and underline the word God and certain passages almost every day. His mother felt he was her “Angel unaware” (Hebrews 13:2).
Greg lived in Washington County all his life and attended Hillcrest School and the Arc Center.
The eight years prior to him being admitted to the 3rd floor, Greg lived with his four sisters. During this time he attended Holmes Creek Baptist Church of Chipley, Eastside Baptist Church of Vernon, and First Baptist Church of Bainbridge, GA.
Greg was preceded in death by his father and sister, Myra Jean Shores, grandparents, Sely and Addie Gilmore Harmon, and William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Sellers Shores.
He is survived by his mother, brother, Ricky Shores of Newton, AL, and sisters, Sue Broom (Paul) of Chipley, Faye Cope (Lynn) of Chipley, Pam Brooks (James) of Vernon, and Amy Pelham (Wesley) of Bainbridge, GA. He was deeply loved by his nieces and nephews and known as Uncle Greg to Lynn Cope, Jr. (Charlotte) of Panama City, Michael Broom (Kristi) of Chipley, Leigh Cope (Michele) of Chipley, Niki Seley (Allen) of Vernon, Allison Brock of Vernon, Brande Suttles (Ray) of Lynn Haven, Derrick Shores (Armindia) of Lynn Haven, Arika Drewery (Tim of Hamilton, AL), Sara Beth Pelham and Hunter Pelham of Bainbridge, GA.. His life deeply impacted his great nieces and nephews, Sy Seley, Cameron Cope, Olivia Cotton, Emily Broom, Mikayla Cotton, Addie Cope, Enzlie, Ruby, and Asa Drewery, by teaching compassion, patience, love, and acceptance. He is also survived by a special Aunt, Mary Nell Harmon Abbott (Frank) of Pensacola.
