Mr. Leon Carthell Hodge, age 80, of Bonifay, passed away August 3, at his home surrounded by family. He was born June 4, 1936 in Plant City, Florida to the late Leon Maxwell Hodge and Mary Lois Ellis Hodge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by one brother, Kenny Hodge.
Carthell is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Iris Bush Hodge of Bonifay, FL; one son, Johnny Leon Hodge of Bonifay, FL; three daughters, Vickey Peel and husband Fred of Chipley, FL, Donna Hawkins and husband John of Vernon, FL, Patty Pippin and husband Alan of Bonifay, FL; six grandchildren, Tray Hawkins and wife Jessica, Jessica Hawkins, Monica Crutchfield and Matt, Meleah Davis and husband Josh, Jerrid Pippin and wife Mary, Hannah Pippin; seven great-grandchildren, Kinslee Hawkins, Kayson Hawkins, Haylee Hawkins, Branson Davis, Bryleigh Davis, E.J. Crutchfield, Maddie Crutchfield, Jerrid Pippin, II; two brothers, Clifford Hodge and wife Charlene, and, Richard Hodge and wife Pepper of Bonifay, FL; three sisters, Earnestine Grantham, Maxine Bush & husband Tommy, and Hilda Thomason all of Bonifay, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Gully Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Gillis, Bro. Truman Tanton, Rev. Jesse Reeder, Rev. Josh Hodge and Rev. Jeep Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the Gully Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
