June unemployment

Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in June 2016, unchanged from the May 2016 rate and down 0.6 percentage point from 5.3 percent a year ago.  There were 453,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 9,744,000. The U.S. unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in June. Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 8,324,500 in June 2016, an increase of 9,800 jobs over the month. The state gained 244,500 job over the year, an increase of 3.0 percent.

The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Chipola region (Calhoun,Holmes,Jackson,Liberty,Washington) was 5.7 percent in June 2016. This rate was 0.5 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 6.2 percent. Out of a labor force of 40,506 there were 2,306 unemployed residents in the region.
