Harrell obit

Bess Yates Harrell, 97, of Bonifay, passed from this life on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit in Chipley.

A native and life long resident of the Bonifay community, Mrs. Harrell was born August 10,1918 to the late Ferry and Pearl Pipkin Yates.

Miss Bess, as she is so fondly called, was a devoted long time member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.

The entire staff on the 3rd floor at NWFCH was a big part of her family for the last 3 1/2 years.  She loved them all as well as the Food Service and Housekeeping Staff.

She leaves two very dear friends and caretakers from the 3rd floor, Mrs. Mildred Long and Mrs. Eloise Pippin.  The family is forever grateful for the love and attention she received while residing on the 3rd floor.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Thomas Ray Harrell, one son-in-law, John Teusink, two brothers, Buford and Buel Yates, two sisters, Bonnie Watson and Bernice Yates.

Survivors include two daughters,  Barbara Teusink of Bonifay, Marilyn Rogers  and husband Ken, of Marianna;  one son:  Marcus Harrell and wife  Ozeal of Bonifay; four grandchildren:  Starsky Harrell and wife Jennifer of Bonifay, Marla Brooks and husband Phillip of DeFuniak Springs; Chris Rogers  and wife Marie of Milton, Jamie Rogers of Marianna:
five great grandchildren, Autumn, Gueston, Kylee, Tyler and Jakobie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 1661 Bethel Road, Bonifay with Elder Bobby Willis officiating with Sims Funeral Home directing.

Private burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm until funeral time, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NFCH/SNF Family Council.
