Trent Justice went 2-3 and hit a homerun as the Chipley Tigers took home a 6-3 victory over Hernando in seven innings on Saturday at the Dixie State Tourney in Brooksville.
Tripp Hodges got the win for the Chipley Tigers. He allowed two runs over five innings. Hodges struck out six, walked three and gave up six hits.
Hernando jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
The game’s last lead went to the Chipley Tigers thanks to a second inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a two-run double by Grant Rowell, a solo homerun by Justice and an RBI single by Bray Gainey.
Hernando got one-run rallies in the second inning and the seventh. In the second, Hernando scored on a walk by Price, scoring Hunter.
The Chipley Tigers increased their lead with two runs in the third. A steal of home scored Joey Jordan for the inning’s first run.
A one-run seventh inning helped bring Hernando within three. A passed ball gave Hernando life. The game went final when Dresser struck out.
